Police Arrest 3 Robbers Of The Salaries Of Honorary Workers At The Ministry Of PUPR, South Sumatra

Police officers arrested the perpetrators of the salaries of honorary workers at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) of South Sumatra Province.

Head of Sub-Directorate III Jatanras Polda Sumsel Kompol Agus Prihandika said the robbers, each with the initials J (54), D (39), and MZ (39), were arrested by personnel Unit 4 Sub-Directorate III Jatanras during an ambush operation at his home in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (OKI) on August 24, 2023.

He explained that the arrest of the suspect was the result of an investigation into the reporting of an honorary worker from the Ministry of PUPR Sumsel, FA (32) and supported by testimony from witnesses.

The FA told police investigators they had been victims of a robbery on August 2, 2023, at 11.30 WIB. The robbery occurred when the complainant and witness took Rp200.25 million in Bank Mandiri in the Alang-alang Lebar area, Palembang City, which was used to pay salaries for honorary workers at the Ministry of PUPR South Sumatra.

After taking the money, the victim and the witness headed to the Bukit Kecil area to pick up the child from the witness, and returned home to the witness' residence in Kalidoni District, Palembang City, which is the scene of the incident (TKP).

When he arrived at the scene, the victim parked his vehicle on the side of the street where the witness was, but forgot to bring the money and forgot to lock his car.

However, at the time the victim wanted to take the money, he saw one of the perpetrators opening the door of the vehicle driver and taking the money.

"When the victim tried to thwart the action, one of the perpetrators pointed a gun at him and fled on a motorbike. Then the victim chased the perpetrator and threw them in a bucket and also caused some of them to fall onto the streets, but suddenly from behind the victim there was a car that was about to crash and allegedly belonged to the perpetrator and managed to avoid it," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 13.

Based on the results of the investigators' interrogation, the perpetrators D and PD who are currently still pursuing are tasked with taking money, while the perpetrators MZ and J who followed the victim used a car while taking money from the bank to the crime scene.

Then, they also admitted that the stolen money was obtained worth Rp. 80.8 million, and each of the arrested perpetrators, J and MZ received a share of Rp. 20 million, while D received a share of Rp. 20.4 million.

During the arrest, the police confiscated a motorbike and a cell phone.

In addition, Agus revealed that the perpetrators of MZ and D were recidivist in a similar case in the jurisdiction of the Tegal Police, Central Java.

For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning theft accompanied by violence, with the threat of a sentence of 12 years, or Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with weights which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
