East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) officers found a boy named Kenzie (11) drowned in the floodgate (KBT) of Malacca Jaya Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, Sunday.

Head of the Operational Section of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed in Jakarta said that his party received information that the victim drowned at around 14:47 WIB.

"Received information from the Head of the Malacca Jaya Village regarding the drowning victim," said Gatot as quoted by Antara.

Receiving this information, he continued, his party deployed a rubber boat with six personnel to search for victims who are residents of Jalan Buaran 2, Klender Village, Duren Sawit District.

According to him, the search for victims began at around 15:19 WIB and about 30 minutes later, the victim was found dead.

"At that time the victim was swimming in the KBT, but suddenly drowned. During the search, the victim was found dead," explained Gatot.

Officers who were assisted by residents and local infrastructure and facilities handling officers (PPSU) immediately evacuated the victim by using a rubber boat and took the victim to the funeral home.
