The Indonesian Consulate General In Hong Kong Urges Indonesian Citizens To Be Alert To Saola Topans

JAKARTA - Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha said the Hong Kong Consulate General (KJRI) had issued an appeal to Indonesian citizens (WNI) to be aware of Typhoon Saola.

"The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong appealed to Indonesian citizens to increase their vigilance and be in a safe place and monitor information from the Hong Kong authorities," Judha said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 1.

He explained that Typhoon Saola is expected to hit Hong Kong on September 1-2. In addition to strong winds, he said, Topan Saola also has the potential to cause flooding in the area around the coast.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also provides emergency contact numbers that can be contacted by Indonesian citizens to ask for help, namely the Hong Kong authorities in 999 or the Hong Kong Consulate General's hotline at [phone].

As is known, the number of Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong reached more than 140,000 people with 90 percent of whom were migrant workers.
