JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko officially closed the 2023 Jakarta Plurilateral Dialogue (JPD) Forum on Wednesday, August 30, at the Borobudur 2023 Hotel. Moeldoko appreciated all parties who joined the forum with their full support for world peace.

Moeldoko said that narratives and good practices are needed to solve various humanitarian problems which have become a global urgency. "We need to respond to issues regarding intolerance together to be corrected and this meeting is truly the best solution to what we are facing," said Moeldoko.

Still in the context of tolerance and peace, Moeldoko also reminded that technology plays an important role as a medium of information for the global community. Differences of opinion, which are often expressed freely, should not divide unity, especially those based on religion and belief.

"Diversity is a gift from God that we cannot avoid, but it is not without problems and we cannot ignore this,  through this meeting it can be a solution as well as exchanging information about good practices carried out in various countries, we can learn from each other from there," continued Moeldoko.

The 2013-2015 National Military (TNI) Commander also said that cooperation between countries is needed to ensure democracy grows well, including supporting more inclusive education to foster a spirit of tolerance.

"Our strong commitment to promoting tolerance to create a world that is increasingly peaceful and comfortable for everyone regardless of religious or cultural elements, this is a global responsibility towards a world that is increasingly peaceful over time," concluded Moeldoko.

JPD 2023, which was attended by representatives from 33 countries, has produced a Convenor's Note or organizer's note which emphasizes the active implementation by the government and society of tolerance based on religion and belief which was conveyed by the Main Personnel of the Presidential Staff Office, Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin. He said that cooperation between countries is the main pillar in achieving tolerance based on religion and belief.

"Different systems are not a barrier to implementing domestic and foreign cooperation. "Indonesia continues to prepare to carry out multilateral and bilateral cooperation to advance the goals of peace, as well as proof of Indonesia's implementation of Resolution 16/18," said Ruhaini.

On the two days of holding JPD 2023, 5 dialogue sessions were carried out by presenting speakers from various stakeholders such as representatives from State Ambassadors, community organizations, academics and the media. The entire forum discussion was initiated to explore best practices and lessons learned around the world in strengthening the implementation of UNHRC Resolution 16/18.

JPD 2023 is a strategic forum to demonstrate Indonesia's commitment. The content of this forum is also in line with Indonesia's candidacy to become a member of the UN Human Rights Council for 2024-2026, where Indonesia will demonstrate various national initiatives in religious moderation and strengthening a culture of tolerance to be a lesson for friendly countries.
