KPU Karawang: 6 Village Heads Will Candidates Have Not Submitted Resignation

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Karawang Regency, West Java, said that six village heads who have advanced as legislative candidates in the 2024 General Election have not completed the requirements in the form of a letter of approval for their resignation from the position of village head.

"When registering as candidates (candidates for legislatures), they (village heads) must prove their resignation letter from the relevant agencies," said Commissioner of KPU Karawang, Kasum Sanjaya, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

In the list of interim candidates (DCS) for legislative candidates in the general election, there will be six village heads registered as candidates, but they have not completed the predetermined requirements.

The six village heads who are included in the DCS include the Head of Karyamulya Village, Batujaya District, Alex Sukardi, who is running as a candidate from the Golkar Party.

Furthermore, the Head of Sukakerta Village, Cilamaya Wetan District, Buchori, who advanced through the NasDem Party, Rusli SE Kades Segaran Batujaya District who advanced from PKS, and Abah Salwaniselaku, Head of the Kemiri Village, Jayakerta District, who was a PKB candidate.

In addition, Darna as the Head of the Dongkal Village, Pedes Subdistrict, who will become the PDI-P candidate and Ebeh Halim, Head of Duren Village, Klari District, who is registered as a candidate for the Golkar Party.

"We are still waiting for the requirements of the six village heads who will become legislative candidates before being appointed in the DCT (permanent candidate list)," he said.

KPU Karawang will determine DCT for Karawang legislative members on November 4, 2023.

Meanwhile, the regulation of each village head must resign if he nominates as a legislative candidate in the election, it is in accordance with the General Elections Commission (PKPU) Regulation Number 10 of 2023 concerning the Nomination of Members of the House of Representatives, Provincial Regional House of Representatives, and the Regional House of Representatives. Regency/City.

In addition, it is also regulated in Article 29 letter i of Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. This article prohibits village heads from holding concurrent positions as members of the legislature.
