Jokowi: Election Political Attractions Are Not Over, We Just Pay Attention To It First

CIREBON - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) advised the people of Cirebon, West Java, to continue working to build their area to maintain economic stability and not be disturbed by the situation of the political year ahead of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

"I always say that political affairs in 2024 should not interfere with our economic stability. It can be difficult," said Jokowi when giving an official speech to the 2023 National Independence Network (JAMAN) Rapimnas in Cirebon City, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 29.

The President advised the people of Cirebon not to rush into political affairs in 2024, most importantly now working and building economic resilience at the regional level.

"I ordered the 2024 affairs not to be rushed. We just work first for the economy of our country," he said.

Entering the political year, President Jokowi has always monitored the development of the situation and positioned himself as an observer, because currently the government's attention is being focused on improving the economy and improving the welfare of the people.

He assessed that the current political conditions tend to warm up, then a number of political parties are still looking for a coalition format that is right before the 2024 General Election.

"We see that the political attractions have not been completed. So, we have been observing from afar. Observing first. Do we agree or not?" said the President.

In addition, said Jokowi, the names of the candidates who will be carried in the upcoming presidential election contestation have not yet reached the final point.

This means, he continued, that currently all parties, including the people of Cirebon, are better off working hard so that economic growth in the area will increase.

"So we are just working hard," said Jokowi.
