Bali Immigration Implements Digital Patrol To Arrest Foreigners For Permit Violators

DENPASAR - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bali, intensified immigration supervision by implementing digital patrols to arrest foreign nationals (WNA) who violated their residence permits.

"We have deployed the Ngurah Rai Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team (Inteljakim) for immigration patrols," said Head of Immigration Ngurah Rai, Bali, Sugito in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 29.

He explained that digital patrol activities can help officers get additional information in supervising foreigners, including through activities on social media (medsos).

He said that one of the surveillance of foreigners who violated their residence permit was arresting a foreign citizen from Croatia with the initials PB.

The foreigner last entered Indonesia on June 25, 2023 through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport using a foreign on arrival (VOA) and has a residence permit that is valid until August 23, 2023.

He said that PB, who is a 47-year-old male foreigner, apparently used his residence permit to work to market property in Bali.

"Based on the examination carried out by the Inteldakim team, PB was proven to have abused residence permits in the form of marketing property, even though he was the holder of the residence permit for the visit," he said.

Sugito said Immigration Ngurah Rai Bali imposed Article 75 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 Year 2011 concerning Immigration, namely foreigners in Indonesian territory who carry out dangerous activities and should be suspected of endangering security and public order.

"In addition, not respecting or disobeying the laws and regulations in accordance with Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration," he said.

The Croatian man was later deported back to his country on Monday (28/8) via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on a Qatar Airways QR-963 destination for Denpasar-Doha and continued with a flight to his country.

The Immigration Office, he said, did not cover the deportation costs, but used PB's personal money completely.

He said that according to Article 102 paragraph 1 of the Law, in addition to being deported, foreigners violating residence permits also received a maximum interval of six months and each time it could be extended for a maximum of six months.

Based on data from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province, the number of foreigners deported from Bali was 201 people during the period January to August 7, 2023.

Meanwhile, in 2022, 188 foreigners were expelled from the Island of the Gods for committing immigration violations, with various reasons starting to violate residence permits, misuse of residence permits, criminal acts to violating norms in Bali.
