Hanura Chairman Denies Jokowi's Directives To Meet Megawati

Chairman of the Hanura Party, Oesman Sapta Odang (Oso), denied that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had given a special direction to meet PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri regarding support for Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate (candidate). The reason is, Oso has just officially visited the PDIP DPP office regarding cooperation towards the 2024 presidential election. In fact, Hanura is the first political party to support Ganjar's candidacy since Megawati was appointed on April 21.

"Frankly, there was no guidance from Mr. Jokowi to me, and I did not hear that Mr. Jokowi also focused on someone. Because he said he was exactly as consistent as me," said Oso to reporters in Jakarta, Monday, August 28.

According to him, there is nothing wrong with his meeting with Jokowi. "If I meet Mr. Jokowi, where's the fault? If I was invited by Hasto to meet Mrs. Mega where did she go wrong?" asked Oso. "I think I just met Mr. Jokowi, I'm also friends with Mr. Jokowi and he's the president, I'm his people. Then with PDIP I was the first supporter after Mrs. Mega declared a presidential candidate to Ganjar Pranowo, I was the first," he added. Oso then explained the reason why he had just met the PDIP chairman after meeting Jokowi in Medan last Sunday. He said, Hanura and PDIP's friendship was only carried out because of time constraints. "Well, now I just have time, is it okay, right?," he explained.

"I don't have to meet, because I have expressed my support for Ganjar and then I was called Hasto asking for time to meet Mega and PDIP's mother, I am very happy to unite the views," added Oso.

Oso emphasized that the Hanura Party has consistently supported Ganjar since it first expressed support. Even though he said, it was only the day that he and his staff came to the PDIP headquarters. "What obscured my support for PDIP to Ganjar was not right, what was right was that I was consistent. Because the decision was not my decision but the decision of the organization that involved all DPDs throughout Indonesia through zoom so that a spontaneous agreement emerged to support Ganjar to become president," said Oso.
