JAKARTA - Two fugitive pickpocket specialists on the KRL Commuter Line train were arrested by the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Monday, August 28.

"The two suspects are Davis (28) and Lebistra alias Lebis (26). Both are pickpocket specialists," said Tambora Police Chief, Kompol Putra Pratama when contacted by VOI, Monday, August 28.

The two Palembang syndicate actors used to carry out pickpocket crime operations on the KRL train and the Station in Jabodetabek.

"Tersangka Davis telah merantau ke Jakarta sejak tahun 2014," ucapnya.

In the record of the crime of suspect Davis, it turned out that the perpetrator had been arrested twice by security for pickpocketing at the station, but was only given guidance because the victim did not want to make a report to the police.

"Suspect Davis has also been arrested by the police once, currently he has been arrested again by the Tambora Police. Davis has learned to be a pickpocket by himself. In each of his actions, Davis acts as the executor of pickpockets," he said.

Meanwhile, according to the statement of the suspect Davis, every time he manages to pickpocket, the proceeds of crime are used for daily needs and buying narcotics of the type of methamphetamine.

"He last used methamphetamine 4 days ago. The family already knew that this perpetrator worked as a pickpocket," he said.

Furthermore, the pickpocket suspect named Lebis began to migrate to Jakarta from his hometown since 2016. After arriving in Jakarta, Lebis, who did not have other skills, finally jumped straight into a pickpocket.

"He has been a pickpocket since 2016. Lebis has been arrested twice. Lebis has learned to pickpocket from a friend with the initials Y in the Sumur Bor area, Cengkareng. In his action, Lebis acts as a goalkeeper or recipient of goods that are observed by Davis. Lebis also serves as a seller of goods," explained Kompol Putra.

The suspect Lebis used the money from pickpocketing for his daily needs. Lebis also claimed to be a user of methamphetamine.

"All of these pickpocket groups have been arrested by the Tambora Police, there are still many other groups that still have to be arrested," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Tambora Police managed to arrest a group of pickpockets specializing in the KRL Commuter Line after pickpocketing a passenger at the Duri Train Station, North Duri Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta.

The two perpetrators were Robin Maulana (36) and Suherman (43), a resident of Kranji, Bekasi City. Both are Palembang groups.

Both were arrested on Jalan Masjid Al-Ikhlas, RT 05/10, Kranji Village, West Bekasi District, Bekasi City.

The perpetrators managed to steal the Samsung Galaxy flip 3G5 branded cellphone for Rp11 million belonging to the victim with the initials JI, a female passenger.
