The Kendari Basarnas evacuated a man who tried to commit suicide at the Nurul Shabah Mosque tower, Waruruma Village, Kokalukuna District, Baubau City, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).
Head of Basarnas Kendari Muhammad Arafah said the man who tried to commit suicide was named Fanja (35) and a resident of Baubau City.
The report on the suicide attempt at the tower of Nurul Sabah Mosque, Waruruma Village, Kokalukuna District was first informed by local residents, on Sunday at around 11.00 WITA.
"Mr. Rahma reports that there has been a dangerous condition for one person who attempted suicide from the mosque tower," said Arafah in his official statement, Antara, Sunday, August 27.
He said that based on the report, his party dispatched the Baubau SAR Rescue Team using a rescue car to provide SAR assistance to the TKP location which was 16 kilometers from the Baubau SAR Post and arrived at around 11.22 WITA.
"Before it was reported, local residents had made efforts to communicate with the victim along with members of the Waruruma Police, but were unable to remove the victim from the mosque tower," he said.
At 12.05 WITA, continued Arafah, the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team arrived at the scene and immediately carried out an evacuation process for the victim.
"At 13.05 WITA, the Joint SAR Team managed to evacuate the victim safely," he explained.
Arafah said that after being evacuated, the victim was immediately taken to the Kokalukuna Police Station to be handed over to his family.
