PPATK: Turnover Of Online Judicial Money Reaches IDR 81 Trillion In 2022

JAKARTA - The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) noted that the circulation of money through online gambling transactions continued to increase significantly from year to year and the value reached Rp. 81 trillion.

"The circulation of this gambling money, including conservative gambling, continues to increase from year to year. If we look at 2021, the circulation of money will be IDR 57 trillion and will increase significantly in 2022 to IDR 81 trillion," said Head of the Public Relations Bureau of PPATK Natsir Kongah as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 26.

He said this situation was very worrying, especially since people who did online gambling were not only adults, but there were also elementary school students (SD).

"This is something that worries us all because there are also people involved in online gambling, mostly housewives, elementary school children who participate, this is what we are worried about," he continued.

Based on data on the increase in financial transactions found by PPATK, more and more people are doing online gambling during the pandemic because people spend more time at home.

"People stay at home more time and hope for something more. The income of Rp. 100,000 families should be able to buy children's milk, but mostly used gambling, especially online gambling," he said.

Natsir revealed that the number of suspicious financial transaction reports related to online gambling that entered PPATK also increased. In 2021 the number was 3,446 and jumped to 11,222 reports in 2022.

In January 2023, there were 916 reports, February 831 reports, and in May it rose to 1,096 reports.
