Dozens Of Culinary Places In Lake Limbung, West Manggarai Burned

A total of 14 culinary places belonging to residents located at the Lake Limbung tourist location in Golo Lujang Village, Boleng District, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara were engulfed in flames in the early hours of Friday (25/8) with a loss of almost Rp. 100 million.

"Clinary places belonging to residents who are trying every day at the Lake Limbung tourist site are all on fire, none of the culinary places that survived the incident," said resident of Golo Lujang Village, Theodorus Syukur, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.

The fire that scorched 14 culinary places belonging to the residents occurred on Friday (25/8) at around 02.00 WITA and in an instant 14 culinary places in the form of Manggarai traditional houses and the roof was burned down.

According to Theodorus Syukur, the strong winds that occurred in the early hours of the morning also made it easier for the fire to quickly spread to all culinary places built independently by local residents in supporting the development of the tourism sector in West Manggarai Regency.

"Indeed there were guards at the location but at the time of the incident they were fast asleep and only realized when the fire had scorched four culinary places. Local residents could only save a few culinary facilities during the incident," said Theodorus Syukur.

Culinary places in Lake Limbung tourist sites located 51 km east of Labuan Bajo City have always been a transit point for domestic and foreign tourists before heading to a number of tourist sites Rego and Reo.

Many tourists stop by to enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Limbung before continuing their journey to other tourist sites in West Manggarai," said Theodorus Syukur.

Theodorus said several representatives from the Social Service and the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of West Manggarai Regency had visited the scene to collect data on victims affected by the fire disaster.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Manggarai Regency, Matthew Ngabut, said that a number of BPBD officers had gone down to the fire site to collect data and study whether the fire case was categorized as a disaster or not.

"The BPBD team has gone to the scene to conduct a study to determine whether the status of the fire is in the disaster category or not. A team from the West Manggarai Regency Social Service has also gone to the scene to provide social assistance for victims affected by the fire at the Lake Limbung tourist site, Golo Lujang Village," said Matthew Ngabut.
