Denies PDIP Pays His Personal Debt, Budiman Sujatmiko: There Is No Serupiah

JAKARTA - Budiman Sujatmiko denied the PDIP politician's statement that Megawati Soekarnoputri's party paid off her personal debt.

As is known, the polemic between Budiman and PDIP is heating up after Budiman expressed his support for Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

"No, no, no. No, no. There is no (PDIP pays debts). It doesn't spread. I don't even talk about personal matters, I never burden the party," Budiman said when met at the PSI Kopdarnas event at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 22.

Budiman claimed that he had never used money as the main motivation in carrying out his work and as a party cadre.

"If money is the main motivation, of course I have become a rich politician with 10 years in the DPR. So I have never spoken about the interests of money, personal finances. There is another place, and it has nothing to do with politics, yes," said Budiman.

Previously, PDIP politician Deddy Sitorus alluded to the party's services towards Budiman to save his good name, starting with solving political problems to personal debts.

This was in response to Budiman's attitude of feeling that he was a true PDIP cadre, while he had supported other presidential candidates when his party brought Ganjar Pranowo.

"We want to wait for him to have the greatness of the day, respect his past at the PDIP. Because for years he has been in the PDI-P, we are not just a political problem, we fix the problems of our personal debts, in order to maintain his good name," said Deddy.

In addition, PDIP also often gives Budiman a stage to be a speaker or resource person. Deddy then challenged Budiman to reveal what PDIP's services were to him so far.

"Just ignore him, whatever we have helped. His business is not a matter of hundreds of millions, billions," he said.

Furthermore, Dedi mentioned Budiman's reply after much of what PDIP did to the former PRD frontman. He said Budiman chose to disappear after losing during the 2019 Legislative Election (Pileg).

"After he lost in the 2019 election, he disappeared. Even then, if we invite him to become a resource person in the training where we give him a place," added Dedi.
