New Variant Of COVID-19 Identified In Israel

JAKARTA - A new variant of COVID-19 called BA.2.86 was identified in Israel for the first time, as reported by local media.

The Israeli broadcaster Public Broadcasting Organization (KAN) confirmed the presence of the variant, which marks the fourth known case worldwide.

Previously, similar cases in the United States, Britain and Denmark.

The number of mutations carried by the new variant BA.2.86 can cause vaccines to become ineffective and then worry about the World Health Organization (WHO).

Previously WHO designated BA.2.86 as a "variant under surveillance" due to the large number of mutations it caused.
