JAKARTA - Kenyan President William Ruto said President Joko Widodo's visit to his country was a form of commitment to strengthen the historical ties of the two countries.

"This visit is a sign of His Majesty's good intentions and commitment (President Widodo) to advance and strengthen the close historical ties that have been carried out by the two countries," said the President of Kenya, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, August 21, which was confiscated by Antara.

Kenyan president said that after holding a meeting with President Jokowi at State House, Nairobi, Kenya, today.

The President of Kenya said that he represented all levels of the government and the people of Kenya warmly welcomed the arrival of President Jokowi and all delegates.

According to Kenyan President, President Jokowi's visit was historic because this is the first time Kenya has been visited by the President of Indonesia.

The President of Kenya and President Jokowi did various things in the meeting, including establishing a priority field of cooperation, and witnessing the signing of four memorandums of understanding and letter of intent to strengthen commercial cooperation and investment promotion between the two countries.

"In our discussion, President Widodo and I shared ideas about increasing collaboration to take advantage of opportunities that arise to increase trade balance between the two countries," said President Ruto.

He continued, "We agreed to improve and expand the partnership between Kenya and Indonesia by focusing on four main issues: food security, mining, renewable energy, and health."

Meanwhile, President Jokowi is honored to be able to visit Kenya directly.

President Jokowi stressed that Indonesia and Kenya have had historical close ties since the Asia Africa Conference in 1955 and the Non-Aligned Movement (GNB) in 1961.

President Jokowi said that Kenya is an important friend of Indonesia and Indonesia also continues to be committed to strengthening cooperation with Kenya.
