ACEH - Head of the Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari reported that his party had alerted tents to clean water for flood refugees in the Southeast Aceh Regency, Aceh.
"The BPBD Rapid Response Team has set up a tent to anticipate if there are residents who must be evacuated to a safe place. BPBD also installs public hydrants in several locations so that residents can access clean water," Abdul said in a statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, August 21.
Abdul reported that inundation still hit the Southeast Aceh region, Aceh Province, until Sunday at around 17.00 WIB. There were no reports of affected residents who had fled.
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Southeast Aceh Regency recorded 28 villages or gampongs spread across five sub-districts hit by floods. Meanwhile, the affected population, BPBD recorded 1,177 families or 4,843 people.
The district government has distributed 115 packages of food and non-food assistance. This disaster is a concern for the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum which then monitors and directly inspects flood-affected areas.
"BPBD personnel are at the location to be on standby at the affected locations. In addition, they carry out a review of the needs and coordinate with the affected village and sub-district officials," said Abdul.
A number of villages spread across five sub-districts that are still flooded are Kuta Buluh Village, Lawe Hijo Metuah, Lawe Hijo Gabungan, Lawe Hijo, Kuning I, Kute Seri, Rikit, Pedesi, Pinding, Seperai, Pulo Perengge, Terutung Payung Gabungan and Terutung Payung Hulu in Bambel District.
In Bukit Tusam District, the affected villages are Darul Imami, Gumpang, Kuta Lingga, Tenembak Bintang, Kuta Gekhat and Maha Singkil Villages. Furthermore, Kuta Lesung Village, Setia Baru, Buah Pala and Teger Miko in Lawe Sumur District
Pulonas Baru Village, Kutambaru Bencawan and Kutambaru Village in Lawe Bulan District, as well as Lawe Kinga Gabungan Village and Lawe Kinga Lapter Village in Semadam District.
The flood that occurred after heavy rains flushed on Thursday (17/8) night at 21.00 WIB caused the embankment to burst and the water discharge of the Lawe Kinga and Alas rivers overflowed.
Losses due to flooding were recorded as many as 338 houses submerged, 2 educational facilities. Floods damaged 350.50 hectares of rice land and 53 hectares of corn. BPBD also reported that the Lawe Hijo Ampera bridge was broken.
"BNPB urges BPBD and local residents to remain vigilant and alert if floods experience highs. BPBD is expected to continue to alert personnel if residents need help and evacuation. Weather forecasts in Southeast Aceh still have the opportunity to rain with light intensity for the next two days," Abdul appealed.
