2 Migrant Workers Victims Of TIP Who Become Prostitutes In Dubai Returned

JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani said two Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) with the initials S (31) and I (36) were finally repatriated from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates to Indonesia.

"Alhamdulillah, today Mrs. S and I arrived in the country," said Benny Rhamdani as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 16.

Benny said S is a PMI from Serang, Banten, who is suspected of being a victim of a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in Dubai. S was found in the same shelter as I.

"S and I are both victims of confinement at the same place in Dubai. Successfully released on the help of the Dubai Police in collaboration with the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai," said Benny Rhamdani.

According to Benny Rhamdani, case I was in the spotlight after the video recording made by child I went viral on social media. I, who is a migrant worker from Cianjur, West Java, is also a victim of TIP in Dubai.

Victim I admitted he was promised a job as a household assistant in Dubai, so that in 2022 I finally departed illegally through applicable procedures.

I said that his party had been a household assistant for seven months in Dubai, before finally getting a job offer that he thought was better. It turned out that in a new place, I was made a sex worker.

"What was promised was a good job, it didn't exist," said I.

For 3.5 months, his party became a commercial sex worker in Dubai and did not get paid. "Not getting paid," said I.

The existence of I was known on Monday (10/7) from the results of coordination and information exchange between the Cianjur Police, the National Police's DivHubinter and the Police Attache in Riyad, the Consular of the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai, and the Dubai Police.

The Cianjur Police have arrested Rahmat, as the field sponsor agent who recruited and sent I to PEA (Unity of the Arab Emirates) inappropriately.
