Open Prostitution Practices At Hotels, 4 Youths And 1 Child Arrested By The Southeast Sulawesi Police TPPO Task Force

The Task Force for Law Enforcement (Gakkum) for the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) Sub-Directorate IV of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Police arrested five perpetrators of trafficking in persons. The five perpetrators were N (20), NV (20), HA (20), and AL (18), and one person who was a minor with the initials NO (16). "They were secured at a hotel on Jalan Malik Raya, Korumba Village, Mandonga District, Kendari City on Monday," explained the Head of the Sub-State Task Force for Gakkum TPPO Sub-Directorate IV of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Police, Kompol Syahrir Hanafi in Kendari, Antara, Tuesday, August 15. The disclosure of the case began with information from the public and then the Gakkum Team followed up. After conducting an investigation, the officers immediately arrested the five suspected perpetrators. The five are suspected of having sexually exploited the victim with the initials FT (18). "The five of them have committed a criminal act of trafficking in the name of a victim of FT," said Syahrir. The modus operandi of the perpetrators is to offer the victim to a masher using a social media application for Rp. 500 thousand for one date. The proceeds from the sale of the victims were used by the perpetrators to pay for lodging and their needs. "From the proceeds of the sale, the suspects used it to pay lodging, food, and pay car rental bills," he said. Syahrir said that in this case, his party confiscated evidence in the form of cash amounting to Rp475,000, a Honda Brio car with police number DT 1974 IH, three contraceptives, and a cell phone.

"The perpetrator and evidence have been secured by the Southeast Sulawesi Police TPPO Task Force," explained Syahrir. To account for their actions, the perpetrators will be charged with Article 2 of Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code and 56 of the Criminal Code.
