Different Choices Of Presidential Candidates, Zulkifli Hasan Make Sure KIB Disbands

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan confirmed that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) which he formed together with the Work Group (Golkar) and the United Development Party (PPP) had disbanded.

The disbandment of the coalition of the three parties was announced after PAN and Golkar supported the General Chair of the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate, while PPP supported members of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 election.

"(KIB) is no longer there, now join forces using a new name, right? With the coalition PAN and Golkar," said Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's nickname when met at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 14. PAN and Golkar are close to the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition formed by Gerindra and PKB.

According to Zulhas, he and Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto had a long discussion before deciding to support Prabowo.

"KIB, KIB had a long discussion with Pak Airlangga, after seeing the progress of the surveys, KIB finally decided to join Pak Prabowo," he said.

However, even though he stated that he had disbanded, he emphasized that the three former KIB parties were still communicating. "Yes, just contact," said Zulhas.
