BENGKULU - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Bengkulu District Attorney (Kejari) has appealed to the Supreme Court (MA) regarding the acquittal of the Bengkulu Class IA District Court Judges for the alleged molestation case.

In his verdict, the judge ordered the prosecutor to release the defendant from detention immediately after the verdict was read out and restore the rights of the defendant in his ability, position, and dignity.
"After reading the case file and the letters concerned, the trial stated that the defendant SA was not legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act as charged," said Judge Ivone.
Previously, the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office charged the defendant with eight years in prison for violating Article 82 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 76 letter e of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2022 concerning Child Protection in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
It is known that the case of sexual abuse of a 14-year-old child began when the victim's parents reported the incident to the Bengkulu Police PPA Unit on May 13, 2022.
