Danish Ultranationalist Group Danske Patrioter Burns Al-Qur'an In Front Of The Turkish Embassy

JAKARTA - Several members of the ultranationalist group Danske Patrioter or Patriot Denmark burned a Qur'an in front of Turkey's Great Kedutan in Copenhagen, Denmark. The group also burned another Quran in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen. The arson as reported by Anadolu was carried out on Saturday, August 12. The perpetrators shouted the anti-Islam slogan while carrying out provocative actions that took place under police escort. The action was broadcast live on a number of social media accounts belonging to the perpetrators. In recent months, there have been frequent burning of the Qur'an, blasphemy or attempts to commit blasphemy by Islamophobic groups, especially in Nordic and northern European countries. This action has drawn criticism from the world and Muslim countries. Earlier this month, the Danish Ministry of Defense said that the police would tighten border controls after the burning of the Quran occurred that had an impact on security situations.

"The recent fire of the Quran, as the security police have revealed, has had an impact on the recent security situation," Danish Justice Minister Peter Totalgaard said in a statement.
