Gerindra So Expects Golkar Support In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party really hopes for support from the Golkar Party in the 2024 presidential election contestation (Pilpres). Golkar support is believed to be able to smooth the steps taken by Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto to seat Indonesia 1.

Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani acknowledged the importance of Golkar support for his party in facing the 2024 presidential election contestation.

"The Golkar Party is an old party, a strong party that has experience in a myriad of political processes, so Golkar's support for Gerindra, for Prabowo is very important," said Muzani after attending the consolidation of the Gerindra Party in South Jakarta in Lapang Blok S, South Jakarta, Saturday, August 12.

Nevertheless, Muzani said the Gerindra Party would fully respect the decision of the party bearing the banyan tree to join the Gerindra Party in welcoming the 2024 political year.

"Of course we must respect the internal process in the Golkar Party to immediately make a decision to face the upcoming presidential election. We hope that Golkar will make a decision sooner," he said, as reported by Antara.

Then regarding the meeting between Prabowo Subianto and the General Chair of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartanto some time ago, Muzani said the meeting only discussed the nation's problems.

"Yes, I accompanied Pak Prabowo to meet with Pak Airlangga, but it was more common in the discussion. Generally, it means that they share the perception of Golkar's perspective on various kinds of problems of the nation," he said.

When asked about the chance to join the Golkar Party in the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR), Muzani said the opportunity was quite large.

"God willing, it will be big," he concluded.
