Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo invited fishermen in Cilacap Regency to dare to take quick action in energy transformation using battery-based electric motorboats.

"We have to dare to take quick action, what is it? Energy transformation towards energy that is more environmentally friendly and that is the basis for battery," said Ganjar, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 11, after the launch of the Battery-Based Electric Motorized Ship at the Pandanarang Fish Auction Place (TPI), Turtle Bay Beach, Cilacap.

Currently, he said, the battery-based electric motorboat engine products are finished. In fact, PLN Group as the party who initiated the battery-based electric motorboat was able to work together with several countries and the results were quite good.

"Now we have to practice it. If this doesn't get incentives, we can't," he explained.

Therefore, he said, both the ecosystem for the development of battery-based electric motorboats was built for the first time in Cilacap.

"Earlier I said, 'Let's pay, let's help, let's give incentives to fishermen', from PLN help and then from the company to help, from the district government, provincial government, to the center, we build the ecosystem," said Ganjar, quoting his remarks when giving a speech.

Thus, he said, when fishermen in Cilacap replace the attached engine on their ships with battery-based electric motors, then the general electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) is made and the full-sale service is prepared, fishermen will really be able to feel the comfort of working while conducting continuous education.

He also mentioned the statement made by the General Manager of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) Central Java and Special Region Distribution Main Unit of Yogyakarta Mochammad Suffin Hadi that the battery-based electric motorboat engine can be used for fishing boats, ferry boats, and tourist boats.

"Tourism is so important when a small child, who doesn't understand, it is explained that we use a sticky motorbike without sound, why, because we use battery power, what is the capacity when compared to using fossil fuel fuels, how much did it cost, earlier it was one-tenth (1 per 10, ed.)," said the Governor.

However, the investment is based on rough calculations, he said, it is estimated that it will take up to three years to be able to enjoy the benefits of using the battery-based electric motorboat.

He admitted that the initial investment was confirmed to be rather expensive, but when a long-term calculation was carried out, the profits would be higher because the operational costs were much cheaper when compared to using fossil fuels and could reduce emissions.

Therefore, he said, its full-sales service is important so that it can then be converted from the use of fossil fuels to environmentally friendly electrical energy on fishing boats.

"In my opinion, it's time and must dare to start," he said.

After the launch, Governor Ganjar accompanied by PLN Group management had the opportunity to ride one of the ships using battery-based electric motor engines on Turtle Bay Beach.
