Bobby Nasution Affirms Medan City Government Discusses Wages With Workers

The Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution emphasized that the Medan City Government always discusses with workers and workers every year discussing wage issues.

"So all this time, we have always discussed with fellow workers and workers, including the Medan City Wage Council to discuss wage issues," Bobby said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

This was done, he continued, to reach an agreement that benefits both parties or a mutually beneficial solution for all parties.

That way, the entire system can run well, especially the workers and business actors in the capital city of North Sumatra Province.

The city minimum wage (UMK) in Medan City has increased by around 7.52 percent or Rp253,472 to Rp3,624,117 as of January 1, 2023.

"We are committed to this wage, we can find mutual benefits," said Bobby when receiving hundreds of workers who are members of the All-Indonesian Workers Union (SPA SPSI) North Sumatra in front of the Medan Mayor's office.

The mayor said that the wage issue must be able to answer all parties, both workers get adequate rights and the company is not burdened with wages.

"We always discuss these (Wages, ed) things. But what is certain is that we certainly hope that all community groups, including fellow workers and workers, will get good things. Therefore, wages in 2024, we will continue to follow the regulations," explained Bobby.

Chairman of the DPC Medan City Metal Workers Union Federation Supranoto in his oration asked the government to revoke Law (UU) No.6/2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law No.2/2022 concerning Job Creation into law.

The government is also asked to immediately revoke the Health Law which was just passed by the DPR.

"The North Sumatra Province Manpower Office should activate the activities of the wage council and provincial tripartite LKS (cooperation institutions) to accelerate the handling of labor cases in North Sumatra," he said.
