Mixing Household Affairs, Son-in-law Kills In-laws Using Machetes In South OKU

SOUTH SUMATRA - The police revealed the motive for the sadistic murder between his son-in-law and in-law in Damarpura Village, Buana Pemaka District, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Selatan. The murder was sparked by revenge.

The perpetrator with the initials SU (31) was desperate to kill his own in-laws Ahyin (50) because he was hurt and often interfered with his household problems until his wife asked for a divorce.

"The suspect admitted that he was desperate to kill his own father-in-law after his wife or the victim's child asked for a divorce," said South OKU Deputy Chief of Police Kompol Hardan in South OKU, South Sumatra (Sumsel), Tuesday, August 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

Before the murder on August 4, 2023 at around 14.00 WIB, the perpetrator's wife had returned to her parents' house after an argument broke out in the household.

The perpetrator also came to the victim's house with a piece of round wood and a sharp machete on the waist.

Arriving at the scene of the case, the victim was blindly attacked by the perpetrator using wood and machetes on the neck and head of the victim so covered in blood and died on the way to the hospital.

"After killing the victim, the suspect surrendered himself to the Simpang Police," he said.

For his actions, the suspect will be charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary to Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning Junto Article 351 paragraph (3) concerning premeditated murder and threatened with a maximum sentence of life or a minimum of 20 years in prison.

"The suspect has now been detained at the South OKU Police Headquarters for further legal processing," he said.
