Bareskrim Denies Panji Gumilang Regarding Allegations Of Criminalization And Politicization In Blasphemy Cases

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has denied any elements of criminalization and politicization in handling the alleged blasphemy case that named Panji Gumilang as a suspect.

Director of Criminal Investigation at the National Police, Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro, said that in the process of handling cases, the investigative and investigative team had followed all existing regulations.

"If we look at criminalization, I think it is also far from the accusations made," said Djuhandani to reporters, Friday, July 4.

According to him, the winning detective members are tasked with criminalizing someone but still based on applicable procedures, facts, evidence, and regulations. Thus, his actions are not categorized as criminalization.

In fact, the task of the police in the field of detective is also considered to have violated Human Rights (HAM). However, the violation can be done because there is a law that regulates it.

"It is the same with us carrying out forced efforts, it has violated human rights. But human rights violations regulated by law, including this, make this suspect regulated by law and there are rules, we follow all processes," said Djuhandani.

The Panji Gumilang camp suspects that there are elements of criminalization and politicization in handling cases of alleged blasphemy. This is because the process of determining the suspect to the detention of the head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School is considered very fast.

"We have suspected from the start how the criminalization and politicization of the problem of Mr. Syeh Panji Gumilang," said Panji Gumilang's attorney, Hendra Effendy.

According to him, indications of criminalization have been seen since the beginning of the handling of the case. In fact, it became clearer during the process of determining the suspect to the detention of Panji Gumilang.

"We have expected from the start and we have read the steps, yes, we read earlier, we said that in a month starting from the witness then being a suspect then being detained, arrested and detained and until today it is still being processed," he said.

However, when asked about the purpose of criminalizing his client, Hendra stated that he did not know about it. However, he believes that there is an allegation behind the case involving Panji Gumilang.

"The goal is yes, we do not understand, but we suspect that the criminalization of politicization is happening in this case, in this case," said Hendra.
