SUNGAI RAYA - Kubu Raya Regent, West Kalimantan Province, Muda Mahendrawan stated that his party was able to handle forest and land fires (karhutla) well and quickly thanks to harmonious coordination with a number of related parties. The Kubu Raya Regency Government together with relevant stakeholders continue to improve coordination to deal with forest and land fires that occur in the Kubu Raya area. "That is the most important thing, because in the past maybe we were still in the process of consolidation, we were still piling up their duties, sometimes at certain points. Now it is very good. Because I see and continue to monitor in the field, both the TNI, Polri, Manggala Agni, KPH, BPBD, and private firefighters are very quick in coordination," he said. Muda revealed that his party had also held coordination and consolidation meetings by inviting representatives of all plantation companies in Kubu Raya. At the meeting, plantation companies were asked to ensure the availability and readiness of both fire extinguishers and company firefighters. "We also ask for the company's heavy equipment to be alerted so that later if there are points of channels that are a bit dry and the blockage can be handled quickly," he said. Previously, Pangdam XII/Tanjungpura Maj. Gen. Iwan Setiawan in his mandate conveyed that the troop deployment was held to strengthen synergy between agencies in tackling forest and land fires in the West Kalimantan region. According to Iwan, overcoming forest and land fires is not enough just to be carried out by one party.
