Dragged By Ombak Natsepa Beach, Woman From Central Maluku Reported Missing

AMBON - Rescue Team from the Ambon Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, Maluku, assisted by elements of potential SAR and the community conducted a search operation for an adult woman (20) who was reported missing after being dragged by waves at the Natsepa Beach bathing tourist attraction.

"The victim was reportedly dragged by the waves on Wednesday, August 2 at 17:00 WIT and a joint SAR team was deployed to carry out SAR operations until the evening," said Head of the Ambon Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, Maluku Muhammad Arif Anwar, quoted by ANTRA, Thursday, August 3.

However, efforts to search for victims on the first day of the SAR operation have not found any signs of casualties, and the joint SAR team began continuing SAR operations on Thursday morning.

According to him, the Ambon Basarnas command center received information last Wednesday at around 19:06 WIT from a member of the Maluku Police Polairud named Yasir who said a resident was dragged by the waves at the Natsepa Beach tourist attraction, Suli Country, Salahutu District (Ambon Island) Central Maluku Regency.

Receiving this information, at 19:21 WIT, a Rescue Basarnas Ambon team was deployed to the scene to carry out SAR Operations with a distance of approximately 22 km northeast of the Ambon SAR Office.

The search effort on the surface of the water by the joint SAR team lasted until 00: 00 WIT but had not yet reaped maximum results so that it was temporarily suspended and continued the following day to dive.

The incident began at around 17:00 WIT, the victim was found to have swam with several of his friends on Natsepa Beach but suddenly they were hit by the waves.

"Some of the victim's friends managed to save themselves, but not the victim," said Muhammad Arif.

Initially, efforts to search for the surrounding community were carried out immediately but were hampered by the high wave.
