Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Bambang Yugo Pamungkas said MRM was named a suspect on suspicion of hitting the victim Ni Wayan Madiani until she died after being arrested on Thursday (27/7) afternoon.
Bambang said the suspect was charged with multiple articles for causing an accident and did not provide assistance to the victim after committing a traffic violation.
This Irish foreigner was charged with Article 310 paragraph (4) of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation with a maximum penalty of six years in prison and/or a maximum fine of IDR 12 million.
In addition, Irish foreigners are subject to Article 310 of the LLAJ Law with a maximum prison sentence of three years for not providing assistance after hitting the victim.
Bambang revealed that based on the results of the interrogation from investigators, the accident began after the suspect along with two of his Indonesian friends consumed alcohol in the Seminyak and Legian areas, Kuta.
