JAKARTA - Director of Investigation who is also the Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Brigadier General Asep Guntur Rahayu has reportedly resigned from his position. This resignation is suspected to be related to the polemic of hand arrest operations (OTT) which led to the appointment of the Head of Basarnas Marshal Henri Alfiandi.

Based on information circulating, Asep has announced his resignation via a short message application. He said the official letter would be submitted on Monday, July 31.

"As my responsibility as Director of Investigation and Acting. Deputy for Enforcement, I hereby submit my resignation because I am unable to carry out the mandate as Director of Investigation and Acting Deputy for Enforcement. I will convey the official letter on Monday," Asep said in a short message sent internally quoted Friday, July 28.

"What I and my fellow investigators, investigators and public prosecutors do is solely in a series of law enforcement to eradicate corruption," he continued.

VOI has tried to send messages or contact Asep by telephone. However, he has not provided an answer.

Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, has also not responded to Asep's resignation information.

The TNI Puspom previously expressed objections when the KPK named Henri together with the Kabasarnas Administrative Coordinator (Koorsmin) Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto as a suspect. This step is considered to have violated military regulations.

Furthermore, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak apologized for the determination. He said investigators and investigators made a mistake.

Meanwhile, Henri was named a suspect in the aftermath of a hand arrest operation (OTT) in Cilangkap, Jakarta and Jatisampurna, Bekasi on Tuesday, July 24.

Henri allegedly earned command funds of up to IDR 88.3 billion. The money was pocketed by private parties who wanted to work on projects at his institution from 2021-2023.

The KPK said that the money was received by Henri through Koorsmin Kabasarnas Afri Budi Cahyanto.

Apart from Henri and Afri, the anti-corruption commission also determined three private parties who gave money during the silent operation. They are the President Commissioner of PT Multi Grafika Cipta Sejati Mulsunadi Gunawan, President Director of PT Intertekno Grafika Sejati Marilya, Managing Director of PT Kuntung Abadi Utama Roni Aidil.

This case began when Basarnas carried out several projects in 2023. The first project is the procurement of debris victims detection equipment with a contract value of Rp9.9 billion.

Second, the public safety diving equipment procurement project with a contract value of Rp. 17.3 billion. Finally, the procurement of ROV for KN SAR Ganesha is worth Rp. 89.9 billion.
