BENGKULU - The Bengkulu City Education and Culture Office (Dikbud) summoned three regional elementary school principals (SD) following public complaints regarding allegations of illegal levies (extortion) and purchases of school uniforms.

"We have summoned three school principals to confirm reports related to illegal levies and school uniforms prices," said Bengkulu City Education and Culture Head A. Gunawan as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 26.

Based on the results of the confirmation carried out, he said, the school had held a deliberation with the student's parents before determining the price of the school uniform.

Then, regarding extortion, the school admitted that it did not collect illegal fees, but was carried out by a third party regarding the scholarship program implemented by the private sector.

Therefore, Dikbud appealed to the principal not to burden the parents regarding the cost of school uniforms.

Furthermore, for parents, if they find illegal levies or school uniform sales, the price is considered unreasonable to report to the Bengkulu City Education and Culture Office.

"We urge parents to report allegations of extortion or whatever, because we are committed and act decisively against extortion and so on at school," he said.
