Police Successfully Thwarted The Circulation Of Counterfeit Money In Kandangan, Perpetrators Arrested

KANDANGAN- South Hulu Sungai Police (HSS) officers managed to thwart the circulation of counterfeit money in the Kandangan area by successfully arresting a young man with the initials AR (24) who is suspected of being involved in the case of possession and circulation of counterfeit Rupiah denominations.

Head of the Public Relations Section (Kasi Humas) of the HSS Police, Ipda Ardiansyah Machzar, made the announcement on behalf of the HSS Police Chief, AKBP Leo Martin Pasaribu, on Sunday, July 23.

According to information from Ardi, suspect AR is suspected of being involved in the crime of storing and circulating counterfeit money in any way, as regulated in Article 36 paragraph 2 and paragraph 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 7 of 2011 concerning currency.

The arrest of the AR perpetrator was carried out by a team led by the Kandangan Police Chief, Ipda Wahyono, based on information from the public. The suspect was arrested on Jalan Negara Kandangan, Gambah Dalam Village, Kandangan.

"As a result of this community report, members of the Kandangan Police gave chase and managed to secure the suspect at the scene. After that, the officers conducted an examination of the perpetrator and he admitted that the counterfeit money was still stored in his house," said Ardi, quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 23.

Receiving this information, members of the Kandangan Police immediately conducted a search of the suspect's residence. As a result of the search, officers managed to confiscate a number of pieces of evidence in the form of eight counterfeit notes of Rp100,000 denominations with serial numbers GBL049500, 21 counterfeit notes of Rp100,000 denominations with serial numbers UBF663064, and four counterfeit notes of Rp100,000 denominations with serial numbers LHO011857. In addition, two plastic bags were also found to be used to store counterfeit money.

Currently, the perpetrator has been arrested by the police and will undergo a legal process in accordance with applicable regulations for his actions in the circulation of counterfeit money. The authorities continue to carry out further investigations to uncover the network of counterfeit money circulation, as well as find out the origin of counterfeit money circulating in the Kandangan area.
