Garut Police Targets Thugs To Be Bruise And Often Makes People Uneasy

The Garut Police have alerted a number of personnel from the Samapta Unit to eradicate thugs who disturb the community.

The thugs who were prosecuted disturbed the public because they were drunk, sold goods by forcing, parking wildly, and busking in every area of Garut Regency.

"We are still hearing complaints and reports from many people regarding the disturbing acts of thuggery around them, we immediately responded by carrying out raids," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha to reporters in Garut, Friday, July 21, as reported by Antara.

He said the Garut Police had deployed a team from the ranks of the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Garut Police Samapta Unit to be ready to move to carry out patrols and take firm action against anyone who was reported or known to have committed acts of disturbing security and public order.

He explained that his members routinely raided thugs and then took them to the Garut Police Headquarters for examination, coaching, and urine tests to detect taking drugs or not.

He conveyed the results of the last raid on Thursday, July 20, the Garut Police secured 30 thugs from a number of places in the urban area of Garut, which had been reported by the public for disturbing such as drinking, bullying, and forcibly selling goods.

All thugs, he continued, were investigated, if criminal elements were found, such as carrying sharp weapons and being positive for drugs based on the results of urine tests, they would be processed according to applicable legal regulations.

"The 30 thugs that we have secured through this operation, various modes are selling tissue to mineral water forcibly to buskers who ask for money forcibly from residents," he said.

He conveyed that thugs who were drunk and positive for drugs were immediately handled by the Narcotics Unit to undergo further legal examination, while others were handed over to the Garut Civil Service Police Unit for minor crimes in accordance with regional regulations.

Yonki, who has only led the Garut Police since a week ago, said that he would not allow disturbing thugs, his party was committed to taking firm action against all forms of thuggery in Garut.

"This thuggery raid will continue to be carried out in a sustainable manner, this aims to make Garut's territory free from thuggery and the environment safe and conducive," he said.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Garut Police, AKP Deni Nurcahyadi, said his staff continued to monitor street activities to ensure that the community remained safe, there were no acts of thuggery.

"People must be safe, comfortable, and peaceful in carrying out their daily activities, of course what is hoped later is that Garut is free from thugs," he said.

Head of the Garut Police Samapta Unit, Iptu Masrokan, added that his personnel were ready to carry out patrols in areas prone to disturbances in security and public order such as in urban areas of Garut.

His staff, said Masrokan, carry out patrols every day, and are ready to move quickly to the location if there are public reports regarding acts of thuggery in Garut.

"Patrol in all jurisdictions of the Garut Police, markets, terminals, vital projects, tourism, development projects, shopping areas, stations, and other places used by thuggery," he said.
