BANJARMASIN - The police took firm and measured action by shooting at the leg of the murder perpetrator who used a hoe at the Taekwondo Complex, Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan.

"The perpetrator with the initials MI (24) had to take firm action because he tried to run away and fight the officers when he showed evidence," said North Banjarmasin Police Chief Kompol Agus Sugianto as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.

MI was hunted by officers to Medan City, North Sumatra in his hiding place and fled after brutally killing victim AZ (48) with nine eyes injured in the body including the face using a hoe and machete on July 3, 2023.

After almost two weeks of searching, the perpetrator was finally arrested on Friday (14/7) by a joint team from the North Banjarmasin Police, assisted by Resta, Resmob Polda South Kalimantan and the ranks of the North Sumatra Police.

Agus said the identity of the perpetrator was revealed after his party arrested a collector of the victim's belongings which the suspect sold in the form of a motorcycle and cellphone.

"The collector with the initials SH has also been arrested and named a suspect," he explained.

From there, the police continued to trace the traces of the escape of the main perpetrators of the murder by being detected as often moving from place to place even outside the island of Kalimantan.

Meanwhile, the motive for the perpetrator's murder was due to feelings of hurt towards the victim.

"So the two of them just got to know each other, but at one point the perpetrator was offended by the attitude or words of the victim so that he had the heart to kill the victim's house," said the police chief accompanied by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Sudirno.
