West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office Executes 2 Corruption Convicts On The Padang-Sicincin Toll Road To Prison

The West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (West Sumatra) has finally executed two convicts in a corruption case in the procurement of the Padang-Sicincin toll road.

The two convicts who were executed by the Prosecutor's Office were Jumadi and Upik Suryati, with a background as employees of the West Sumatra National Land Agency (BPN).

"This execution was carried out based on the cassation decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia which found the two convicts guilty," said Head of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office Asnawi, in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 14.

He said the convicts who came with cooperatives were immediately thrown into prison to serve a sentence in accordance with the Supreme Court's decision of five years.

In addition to the prison sentence, the Supreme Court also sentenced the three to a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to six months in prison.

After undergoing the administrative process at the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office in Padang, the two of them were immediately escorted to the Muaro Class II A Padang Prison and Padang LPP.

When asked about other convicts, considering the number of convicts in the corruption case in the procurement of the Padang-Sicincin toll road is 13 people, Asnawi said it would be carried out soon.

"As soon as possible we will execute other convicts in this case in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court, we ask the convicts to be cooperative and surrender themselves," he explained.

The suspects in the case amounted to 13 people, namely Syamsuardi, Buyung Kenek, Yuniswan, Khaidir, Sabri Yuliansyah, Raymon, Husen, Syamsul Bahri, Nazaruddin, Syafrizal, Upik Suyati, Riki Nofaldo, and Jumadil.

They come from various backgrounds ranging from residents receiving compensation, local government officials, nagari government apparatus (villages), and the National Land Agency (BPN).

All of the defendants were initially acquitted by the Padang Corruption Court, some of whom had differences in the opinion of the judge.

Based on this decision, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Pariaman District Attorney and West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office finally filed an appeal to the Supreme Court.

The prosecutor's cassation was finally received by the Supreme Court and the panel of judges stated that the dozens of defendants were guilty and sentenced each defendant to a different sentence.
