JAKARTA - Maqdir Ismail, lawyer Irwan Hermawan, a defendant in the alleged corruption case in the 4G BTS infrastructure development project, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has fulfilled the summons of the Attorney General's Office investigators to provide testimony as witnesses.

Maqdir arrived at the Roundabout of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General's Office, Jakarta, at around 10.10 WIB, Thursday, July 13.

Maqdir Ismail brought money worth US$1.8 million or equivalent to Rp27 billion.

"Today we came with USD 1.8 million, we will hand over this money on behalf of Irwan," said Maqdir as quoted by ANTARA.

Maqdir said the money was money that was received by his client related to the BTS Kominfo corruption case.

The money, he continued, would be handed over to Jampidsus investigators at the Attorney General's Office for asset recovery.

"For recovery on things he (Irwan, ed) has received according to this commitment, we bring all of them," said Maqdir.

Maqdir hopes that his arrival in handing over the Rp27 billion money can clarify his client's position in a case that cost the state finances of Rp8.32 trillion.

"Hopefully this will provide clarity on the position of our client Irwan in this case," said Maqdir.

Irwan Hermawan, Commissioner of PT Solitchmedia Synergy, is one of eight suspects in alleged corruption in the provision of Base Tranceiver Station (BTS) infrastructure and supporting infrastructure for Kominfo for the 2020-2022 period.

Then Mukti Ali (MA) is a suspect from PT Huwaei Technology Investment and Irwan Hermawan (IH) as Commissioner of PT Solitchmedia Synergy on May 22, 2023 and Johnny G Plate, former Coordinating Minister for Information.

Two other suspects who are still in the process of completing the case files, namely Windi Purnama, as confidants of the suspects Irwan Hermawan (IH) and Muhammad Yusrizki, Director of PT Basar Utama Prima (BUP) who also serves as Chairman of the Renewable Energy Standing Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
