Plenary Approves Village Bill To Propose DPR Initiative

JAKARTA - The DPR Plenary Meeting approved the Draft Law on the Second Amendment to Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages (RUU Desa), which was proposed by the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR, to be the proposed bill for the DPR initiative.

"Can the bill proposing the initiative of the DPR RI Legislation Body on the Second Amendment to Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages be approved to be ratified into a bill proposed by the DPR RI?" Asked DPR Speaker Puan Maharani in a plenary meeting at the DPR building, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 11.

The question was then answered in agreement by all members of the council and representatives of the factions who were present at the DPR Plenary Meeting.

A number of representatives of organizations that support the ratification of the Village Bill also agreed, including the Association of All-Indonesian Village Government Apparatus (Papdesi), the Central Indonesian Village Apparatus Association (PPDI) and the Central Java Provincial PPDI, the United Indonesia Village Head, to the Association of All-Indonesian Regional Heads (Akdesi).

"Agreed," shouted representatives of the Village Bill supporting organization that filled the balcony of the DPR Plenary Meeting Room.

Previously, Puan asked representatives of nine factions in parliament to first submit their faction opinions in writing to the leadership of the council.

"Thus, the nine factions have expressed their respective factions' opinions," he said.

The plenary session was attended by 105 people's representatives physically and 197 other members of the Indonesian House of Representatives stated their permits. In the plenary meeting, representatives of the Indonesian House of Representatives were also present, including Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus and Rachmat Gobel.

Previously, the Baleg DPR Baleg Meeting approved the Second Amendment Bill to Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages to become a proposed bill for the DPR initiative.

"Can we agree with the draft revision of the Village Law?" said Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Legislative Assembly Achmad Baidowi or Awiek in a plenary meeting for the preparation of the Village Bill in the DPR Baleg Meeting Room, Jakarta, Monday.

The question was quickly answered in agreement by the Baleg members and was greeted by the beating of the hammer which inaugurated the plenary meeting decision.

A number of changes contained in the draft are changes in the term of office of the village head, from six years for three periods, to nine years for two periods, and there is an increase in village funds by 20 percent from regional transfer funds.
