Police Deploy Teams To Block G Tanah Abang Market To Eradicate Thugs

The Central Jakarta Metro Police have deployed a team to Block G Tanah Abang Market to follow up on information that the place is suspected to be a hotbed for thugs and a location for taking drugs.

"Yes, as soon as we received the information, we immediately dispatched a team there, indeed we did not find anything," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 7.

The police are emphasized that they will continue to monitor there to ensure that the location does not become a hotbed for thugs to drugs.

"We also involve the manager of Tanah Abang Market Blok G to monitor places that have not been used so that there is no potential for misuse," he said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in collaboration with the Police will immediately address the problem of Blok G Tanah Abang Market which was neglected and suspected of being a hotbed for thugs and a location for taking drugs.

"When it comes to crime, we cooperate with the Resort Police," said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono in Sunter, North Jakarta, Friday.

Heru admitted that he had heard the news circulating regarding drug users and liquor suppliers (alcohol) using 2nd and 3rd floor buildings at Blok G Market, Tanah Abang Market, which had been empty for a long time and abandoned.

Heru asked the Mayor of Central Jakarta (Jakpus) and the Central Jakarta Metro Police to check the location. "Yes, later with the Mayor (Central Jakarta City) and the Polres check," said Heru.

Circulating information, traders complained about the activities of thugs at night at Tanah Abang Market Blok G, Central Jakarta. On the 2nd floor Block G was found a bong or a methamphetamine suction device, while in Block G, on the 3rd floor there were many broken bottles of liquor.
