PALEMBANG - The Social Security Administration Agency (BPJS) for the Health Branch of Palembang City clarified the news in the mass media and complaints from the people of South Sumatra on social media regarding the number of Healthy Indonesia Cards (KIS) that are not functioning or cannot be used when they want to seek treatment.
"It is not true that the status of the participant's activity was disabled because the KIS card has not been used for treatment for a long time," said Head of BPJS Kesehatan Palembang Sari Qurtulainy Branch in Palembang, South Sumatra, Antara, Wednesday, July 5.
He explained that there are KIS card holders whose membership status is as recipients of health insurance contributions (PBI JK), and non-wage recipients (PBPU) participants from the local government.
Based on data in June 2023, 4,266,736 people or about 53 percent of the total participants in the South Sumatra National Health Insurance (JKN) were PBI JK participants financed by the central government which were determined based on the Ministry of Social Decree and 1,088,727 local government PBPU participants financed by district/city governments.
Meanwhile, the total participants in the South Sumatra national health insurance (JKN) recorded 7,946,643 people or around 91.9 percent of the total population in the local province, consisting of JKN participants receiving PBI and non-PBI participants.
Participants whose status is PBI JK will continue to be active as long as they are still registered by the Ministry of Social Affairs and participants with local government PBPU status as long as they are financed by district/city governments.
"Participants whose status as PBI JK is financed by the central government are determined based on a decree from the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.
He explained, to check whether the membership status is active or not, the KIS cardholders can make healthy visits to first-level health facilities (FKTP) such as health centers, private doctors, and clinics in collaboration with BPJS Kesehatan.
Participants can also directly visit the nearest BPJS Health Office or through the BPJS Health car mobile service, which travels to visit participants and prospective participants in different places according to the operational schedule.
Then participants can also check the activeness of the card through the'mobile JKN' application which can be downloaded via the 'app store or play store' and can also contact the call 'Care Center 165' or through the 'whatsapp' application with CHIKA (JKN Assistant Chat) at 08118750400.
For people who check the card, it is confirmed that it is inactive, he said, for cardholders who are in districts/cities that have reached UHC, they can be directly registered and immediately active, while for districts/cities that have not the status of UHC, participants will only be active next month after being registered by the local government through the Health Office to BPJS Kesehatan.
To be guaranteed as a JKN participant when being hospitalized, participants have 3x24 hours of working day to complete the administration so that it can be guaranteed by the JKN program and not 1x24 hours like the news circulating.
"In order to provide maximum health insurance protection to the community, BPJS Kesehatan as the organizer of the JKN program continues to encourage local governments to reach UHC," said Sari Qurtulaty.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the South Sumatra DPRD, Mgs Syaiful Fadli, explained that recently his party had received many reports and complaints from residents regarding JKN.
Public complaints, especially regarding the problem of poor JKN services and the number of JKN KIS cards cannot be used when they will be used for treatment at FKTP and advanced health facilities (FKTL) or hospitals.
"So that all these problems are more clear and the best solution for the community is obtained," said the South Sumatra PKS politician, in the near future Commission V of the South Sumatra DPRD will meet with the leadership of the Central Health BPJS in Jakarta.
"Efforts to meet the central Health BPJS to question a number of problems related to JKN, ranging from services, the number of JKN holders to the problem of JKN cards that cannot be used," said Mgs Syaiful Fadli.
