Congestion Decomposition AI Technology, DKI Transportation Agency: Will Be Added 40 Points This Year

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party had installed an artificial intelligence (AI) technology decoupling system at 20 traffic light intersections in the capital city. Green Light project, which collaborated with Google in the formation of this artificial intelligence technology, began to be implemented in April. "There are 20 junctions that have applied the AI principle with the transport intelligence of the system at traffic light. This year there will be an additional 40 junctions," Syafrin told reporters, Sunday, July 2. Syafrin explained that the AI system installed on the traffic lights will run an adaptive force function by looking at the foot of the denser junction. Then, the green light on traffic in the solid current will be made with a longer duration. "If so far the arrangement is manual or from our control room. Now on the north-south side, which is in the solid south, then the system will automatically calculate giving the longest time at the southern side because the point is towards that direction," explained Syafrin. "For example, it turns out that from the north which is dense to the south, then the northern side of the junction will be given longer time. So, queues at the junction can be avoided," he added.

In addition, Syafrin said that this system can also calculate the actual volume of traffic at the intersection.
