Chairman Of PPP Surabaya Fired, Dozens Of Candidates Will Resign

Dozens of candidates for legislative candidates (caleg) for the United Development Party (PPP) of Surabaya City, East Java, in the 2024 General Election were withdrawn due to the dismissal of the local PPP Branch Leadership Council (DPC) chairman Ali Mahfud.

"I have consulted the kiai regarding this matter and he has no problem if I withdraw from PPP Surabaya," said Ali Mahfud quoting Antara.

Regarding the reason for his removal, Ali was reluctant to explain. He invited the reason directly to the PPP DPP. "Please ask the PPP DPP," he said.

Ali was reluctant to explain the reasons why dozens of candidates and the chairman of PAC had resigned to follow in his footsteps. Currently, he just wants to calm down first.

According to information obtained by ANTARA, 11 candidates will resign, including Ali Mahfud. Meanwhile, those who withdrew from the Head of Branch Children's Leadership (PAC) from 15 PAC chairmen have now increased to 20 PAC Chairs. The resignation letter was sent to the East Java PPP DPW on June 22, 2023.

Ali's position was replaced by Deputy Chairperson of the East Java PPP DPW Mujahid Ansori as Plt. Chairman of the Surabaya PPP DPC.

It is known that Ali was appointed chairman of the Surabaya PPP DPC on February 25, 2022. Ali should have completed his duties as Chairman of the Surabaya PPP DPC in 2027.

During his time as a captain at PPP Surabaya, Ali has done several things, including forming PAC in 29 sub-districts to establishing 90 branches in Surabaya.

Meanwhile, Mujahid Ansori when confirmed by reporters said that Ali Mahfud's removal was part of a routine evaluation conducted by the party to the DPC chairmen who had served for more than six months.

The party's policy in conducting this evaluation does not only apply in Surabaya, but applies to all PPP DPCs. The evaluation is carried out to find out which management needs to be continued or which needs to be overhauled. This evaluation is part of accelerating the winning of the 2024 General Election.
