MAKASSAR - Thousands of worshipers packed the courtyard of the Campus of Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar to attend Eid al-Adha prayers, 1444 H/2023 AD, Wednesday, June 28.Khutbah Eid al-Adha was conveyed by the Head of the South Sulawesi Muhammadiyah Regional Leader who is also the Chancellor of Unismuh Makassar Prof Ambo Asse. Prof Ambo Asse in his sermon conveyed a message about the importance of sacrifice as the sunnah pilgrimage (confisted), which was highly recommended for Muslims who were able to do so. He reminded that slaughtered animals as sacrifices, such as cows, goats, or sheep, cannot be replaced by other forms of worship, even with higher values. Kurban has a deep meaning and strong spiritual value for Muslims. Prophet Ibrahim ASse's profession also cited the hadith of Rasulullah SAW which stated to his daughter, Fatimah RA, that being present and watching the sacrifice would provide forgiveness for sins committed at the beginning of the droplet of sacrificial animal blood. The sermon reminded the congregation of the importance of awareness of sin through sacrificial worship. On that occasion, Prof Ambo Asse also emphasized the wisdom of sacrificial worship. The sacrificial worship is a reminder of the history of Eid al-Adha experienced by Prophet Ibrahim AS and is a form of ease given by Allah SWT in welcoming the Eid al-Adha. In addition, the sacrificial worship also teaches Muslims to remember Allah SWT in every aspect of life and strengthen their ties with the Creator.
