Not Only The Position Period Of The Village Head So 9 Years, Mendes PDTT Calls Revision Of Village Law Related To Assets

JAKARTA - Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Mendes PDTT), Abdul Halim Iskandar hopes that the revision of the Village Law will improve the welfare of the village community.

"For me, the most important thing is the people who benefit. In essence, the Ministry of Villages PDTT supports changes to the Village Law," said the Mendes PDTT in Jakarta, Thursday, June 22, quoted by Antara.

He said that the revision of Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages was not only about village budgets and the addition of the term of office of village heads from six to nine years.

"It is also important about village assets and borders," he said.

He admitted that his ministry had submitted several inputs that needed to be discussed by the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR in the discussion of the Village Bill.

"There is a lot that needs to be revised from the Village Law, and we have given important points to discuss in the amendment to the Village Law," he said.

He stated that one of the things that was conveyed to be discussed by Baleg DPR was the legal certainty of village officials to emphasize the status of work, work patterns, and social security facilities for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan village officials. "We have to really think about the position of village officials to make it even better," he added.

So far, he continued, the status of village officials is unclear, because it is not part of the state civil apparatus (ASN) or government employees with a work agreement (PPPK).

"We are very grateful to the DPR, because by starting to roll over this revision, it means that there are many things that can be improved by the Village Law," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR, Achmad Baidowi, said that his party had started a meeting to draft a revision of Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages.

It was stated that a number of proposed articles were regulated in the revision of the Village Law, including article 39, which was proposed that the term of office of the village head be extended to nine years, and after that it could be re-elected for the same term of office.

Then, article 72 is proposed so that the amount of village funds is allocated at 10 percent of the Special Allocation Fund aka the regional transfer DAK.
