Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy said the determination of the joint leave of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD as a momentum to mark the transition period of the pandemic to the endemic of COVID-19.

"This joint session will later be a sign of the momentum transition from the pandemic to the endemic as announced by the President," said Muhadjir as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 22.

The government through the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Three Ministers set June 28 and 30, 2023 as a joint leave for Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD. Meanwhile, June 29, 2023 is a national holiday to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD.

Muhadjir said the addition of this joint leave was also a driving force for the economy in the local tourism sector, especially since the momentum of the long holiday also coincided with the school holidays. Thus, the government hopes that the public can take advantage of this momentum as best they can.

"Then, also the extension of the holiday for this year in the context of Eid al-Adha will be used to coincide with school holidays," he said.

In line with Muhadjir, Menpan RB, Abdullah Azwar Anas stated that this long holiday is a momentum for state civil servants (ASN) throughout Indonesia to have more time with their families.

For this reason, Azwar asked ASN to adjust the previous holiday plan and take advantage of the holiday moments to encourage economic movement, as well as strengthen the acceleration of national economic recovery after COVID-19.

"We hope that this long time will be a moment of deep reflection for ASN who are Muslim to commemorate Eid al-Adha," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the addition of holidays or collective leave on Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD was carried out to encourage the wheels of the economy in the community.

"Yes, that's especially the day, it does take more time to encourage the economy, especially in the regions, to make it even better," said President Jokowi.

According to him, the addition of this holiday on Eid al-Adha can increase tourism activities in the regions.

Therefore, the government finally decided to add holidays to Eid al-Adha.

"Especially in the field of local tourism, so because we can see it, it will be decided," said Jokowi.
