Police Send Team To Middle East, Take Overstay Indonesian Citizens And Children Samples

The National Police sent a team to take DNA samples from Indonesian citizens (WNI) who live beyond the time limit or overstay and undocumented children in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Middle East region. The goal is that they can return to the country.

"On Wednesday, precisely on June 14, 2023, the National Police has dispatched four personnel to the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi in the context of carrying out the task of facilitating sampling for DNA examinations or we are familiar with Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid," said Head of the National Police Medical and Health Center (Kapusdokkes) Inspector General Asep Hendradiana to reporters, Monday, June 19.

Based on the data, it was recorded that 230 people had to undergo DNA examination. Consisting of 103 mothers and one father of Indonesian citizens who were overstayed. Lalau, there are also 126 children.

DNA collection and recording until it became a document was ordered by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This activity is also a humanitarian operation.

"In handling overstaying Indonesian citizens and children who are not documented from the Dubai and Abu Dhabi areas, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi," he said.

On the other hand, the team sent consisted of two personnel from the National Police Health Center for Special Division of DNA Laboratory and two personnel from the Police International Relations Division.

Later, they will be assisted by five doctors from the Indonesian medical association in the Middle East.

Karo Penmas Humas Polri Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan added that the DNA sample examination was intended to help Indonesian citizens make documents. This is because the rules there prohibit undocumented someone from leaving the country's terroristism.

"So Indonesian citizens who do not have documents will not be able to leave the country and also cannot return to Indonesia, it will be a problem when there is deportation of their parents, so these children cannot return to Indonesia," said Ramadhan.
