MATARAM - The construction of the international motorcross circuit for the Motorcross Grand Prix (MXGP) event at the Ex Selaparang Airport, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara has reached 90 percent.

"Alhamdulillah, the Selaparang MXGP Circuit has been completed 90 percent," said NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah in Mataram as reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 12.

Zulkieflimansyah said that if the MXGP international circuit was 100 percent completed, it would be a very beautiful tourist destination.

"68 hectares of land from the former airport was not used, God willing, it will soon become a place that will present many ideas, ideas, and next derivative events," he explained.

According to the Governor of NTB, although the MXGP Selaparang circuit has not been completed, currently, MSMEs have grown a lot in the region.

"If there is no MGP, it will be pitch black, PLN has now installed an electric pole, so it will be bright. Especially if it has become a circuit 100 percent, then Senggigi is alive, Mataram is also like that and North Lombok is also affected," said Zulkieflimansyah.

Therefore, he said, the government's task is to help because with so many activities, all sectors will also follow.

"We want the public to be happy, the presence of the circuit also raises the talents of national racers who win many cross motorcycles from NTB. This is not a ceremony, but facilities for young people to channel their talents and hobbies and the name NTB becomes more well known," he said.

Indonesia will host the 2023 MXGP event which will be held in two places in NTB. The inaugural MXGP round will be held at the Samota Sumbawa Circuit on June 23 - 25 after which it will be continued with the Lombok MXGP which will take place at the Ex Selaparang Airport on July 1 - 2, 2023.

MXGP Lombok Circuit designer, Noval Hadi said that even though it was built in the middle of the city, the Selaparang MXGP Circuit had advantages, because it was easily accessible and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. One of them is the view of Mount Rinjani.

"The MXGP track in Lombok includes flat tracks (without original soil contours) so that the design will follow the existing views. Because if we look at the east side, there is Mount Rinjani after finishing," he said.

Noval explained that the layout track will occupy an area of 500 x 144 meters with a track length of 1.6 kilometers with 16 corners. With a flat shape of land (flat), Noval describes the Lombok MXGP circuit as an indoor grass track with international standards.

"This Layout also has skybox, VVIP and public facilities, but we still keep the handling (difficult level) a secret," he said.
