Repair Damaged Roads Along 7 KM, Sorong City Government Budgets IDR 12 Billion

SORONG - The Sorong City Government, Southwest Papua Province, has budgeted a fee of Rp12.7 billion, which is sourced from the 2023 Special Allocation Fund (DAK) for the repair of five roads from Kampung Baru to Tanjung Saoka with a total road length of 7.76 km.

Acting Mayor of Sorong George Yarangga at the opening of the road paving work in Sorong, explained that the five roads are Ponegoro Street, Captain Tandean Street, Captain Patimura Street, G Rinjani Street, and Raja Ampat Island Road. "At that time the road infrastructure in Sorong City had to be well repaired because this is the provincial capital," said George. He also said that when all roads in Sorong City have been repaired, the beauty of the city will be more visible and the community as road users have been helped because there are no potholes. "Moreover, the road to Tanjung Saoka which is a tourist spot, of course, must be improved in order to facilitate the community to get there, because there are many damaged and porous roads there," he said.

He also appealed to road work project holders to do well by paying attention to the quality of the work, so that later the quality of the road will last a long time. "I ask the relevant agencies to oversee this work project so that what we hope can be achieved, do not pursue the target, but the quality is put aside," he said.
