Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD ensured that members of the Legal Reform Acceleration Team were experts and law activists who were credible and with integrity.

Mahfud, who is the Steering Committee for the Legal Reform Acceleration Team, confirmed that it was because he himself chose the team members.

"His credibility was earlier. These are people who are still very aggressively fighting for the upholding of the rule of law, fighting for democracy, there are no defects. These names are clean and indeed very capable of integrity and capability," Mahfud MD said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 9.

Mahfud explained that members of the Legal Reform Acceleration Team are also those who often provide input and notes to the government.

"Because I can't solve the complaint here, let's tell the problem and please help draw up the solution," said Mahfud.

In the same press conference session, Najwa Shihab as a member of the Corruption Prevention and Eradication Working Group for the Legal Reform Acceleration Team, said that team members were independent people.

"Certainly (members) of the team remain independent because they are not paid by Mr. Mahfud's money, because Mr. Mahfud's money is not enough to pay. I know the salary is small, so it remains independent," said Najwa.

He conveyed that the independent team's attitude was also shown by the approach used while working, namely prioritizing public participation.

"So, the approach will listen more input from fellow civil society because most of those who are members are CSO (civil society organizations)," said Najwa.
