JAKARTA - The Head Office of the Main Building Asset Recovery of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia has conducted an auction of confiscated assets in the form of shares of PT Gubung Bara Utama in the corruption and money laundering case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya with the convict Heru Hidayat.

Head of the Public Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, said that PT Gunung Bara Utama's shares were sold for auction worth IDR 1.945 trillion.

Sumedana explained that this auction is part of the settlement of corruption and money laundering cases in the management of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) finances and investments.

Furthermore, said Ketut, the winner of the auction will pay off his obligation to pay the remaining principal of the auction for five working days, namely on June 15.

"All net auction results will be deposited into the account of the Central Jakarta District Attorney, in order to be deposited into the state treasury as Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP)," said Ketut.

The auction implementation is a tangible manifestation of asset recovery carried out by the Asset Recovery Center as part of the settlement of the case in question, based on Supreme Court Decision Number 2931K/Pid.Sus/2021 dated 24 August 2021 in conjunction with the decision of the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court Number 30/Pid.Sus-TPK/2020/PN.Jkt.Pst dated 26 October 2020 in conjunction with the Decision of the Corruption Court at the DKI Jakarta High Court Number 4/Pid.Sus-TPK/2021/PT.DKI dated 24 February 2021 which has permanent legal force.

After the auction is carried out, the confiscation of assets confiscated by the execution, said Ketut, it is hoped that it will have an impact on the recovery of the country's economy, especially by re-operating coal mining activities which are one of the mainstay investments in West Kutai Regency.

"So that it can directly contribute to development in West Kutai Regency and support government programs in national economic recovery through the optimization of PNBP," he said.
