Members Of The Police Who Become Couriers Of 2 Kg Of Methamphetamine Are Promised A Wage Of IDR 40 Million

South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Setyo Boedi Moempoeni revealed that a police officer with the initials Brigadier HA who was a drug courier was named a suspect. "The perpetrator was promised Rp 40 million in cash in carrying out the action. The perpetrator admitted that he was carrying the alleged drug from Tarakan to the Nusantara Port of Parepare," said the Kapolda as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.

The perpetrator was arrested by a joint team from the Port and Customs and Excise Police of the Parepare Branch during an inspection of passenger luggage after getting off the Pantokrator Motor Ship from Nunukan Harbor, Kaltara on June 5, 2023.

During the search, the police found two packs of Chinese Teh green guanyiwang brands weighing one kilogram of methamphetamine each in their backpack.

"Based on the results of research on the packaging of evidence suspected of smuggling drugs, the perpetrator is suspected of being part of the international network (Malaysia)," said the high-ranking police officer.

In addition, the person concerned is known to be an active police officer serving as Bhabinkamtibmas at the Binuang Police, jurisdiction of the Polewali Mamasa Regency Police or Polman, West Sulawesi Province.

From the deepening of the information, Brigadier HA left for Tarakan with four colleagues with the initials B, J, A, and C by plane via Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar, in Maros Regency, on May 16, 2023.

While in Nunukan, the perpetrator had time to Tawao, Malaysia through the mosquito river with two colleagues, namely B and C. This prohibited item was given by B in Tawao and then put in a backpack and then taken by the perpetrator from Tarakan to Nunukan by riding a fast boat.

Furthermore, upon arrival at Nunukan Harbor, the perpetrator went up to KM Pantokrator on June 3, 2023 to continue his journey from Nunukan to Nusantara Port Parepare and arrived on June 5, 2023 at around 09.00 WITA, until he was finally caught red-handed by officers.

For further legal handling, the Propam team will investigate further, including the deepening of the narcotics network, where the goods were obtained and the main origin of the illicit goods was from Malaysia to entering South Sulawesi.
